Reuse, Refashion Your Clothes To Update Their Style or Fit Better

This class will focus on taking "meh" clothes from your closet and turning them into garments that you're excited to wear. Specific techniques that we'll cover will depend on what students bring to class, but projects could include:
Adjusting fit
Changing a neckline or sleeve style
Changing the length of sleeves, skirt, bodice, pant legs, or any other part of a garment
Adding or removing embellishments
Adding or changing closures
Garments can be retail or hand-made, modern or vintage. You can have an idea of what you want to change, or not--if you have a garment you wish you liked more than you do, bring it, and we'll discuss the possibilities.
Advanced Beginner and beyond--must be comfortable using a sewing machine and a stitch ripper
Materials required:
For the first class, bring a garment or two you want to change, matching thread, and your ideas. If you have a sense of what other supplies you might need and you have them, bring those also. In the first class, we'll assess at least one garment for each student and talk about any additional materials you might need to complete your project and what your first steps are. Weeks two and three will be focused on learning new techniques as necessary and trouble-shooting. We will discuss additional garments as time allows; you can expect to tackle one more in-depth project or several small ones during this class. Homework is very likely to be assigned.

Please arrive early for each class. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late to any class, the instructor may not be able to catch you up.

Registration and Cancellation**: Please register in advance. Classes with less than 50% enrollment may be cancelled at the discretion of the instructor within 72 hours of the first class. In this case, a full refund will be given. Full refunds granted up to 2 weeks before first scheduled class. After that, and up to 72 hrs before a scheduled class, cancellations will result in credit toward another class. Cancellations within 72hrs or less of a scheduled class are non-refundable/non-transferrable.
*Makeups are not available for classes. If you miss a class, we'll try to get you caught up in class.
